To begin with, we had a wonderful time in Spain. The people were very polite and their behavior towards us was really good! The adults of our host family had their careers and every person in the family had his/her role and responsibilities in the house.

To tell the truth, I did not like the food at all. Only one dish called paella made a great impression on me.

I noticed that Greece has the same TV programmes as Spain. We also watched a football match on TV.

As for the prices, they were the same as in Greece with a few exceptions. Moreover, from a discussion we had with our host family we learned that unemployment is quite an important issue in Spain.

In addition, I noticed that Spanish people are very proud of their nation. As for their knowledge concerning famous people, I think that they keep track of the latest news.

I could not imagine living in Spain for 2-5 years because I would miss my relatives and friends, the majority of people in Spain do not know the English language so well, so I would have a communication problem, and last but not least, as far as I am concerned, there is no country in the world that can compare to Greece..!

Travel sightseeing and program

I was really surprised by some impressive buildings in the centre of Madrid, the wonderful view Toledo has and, of course, the Bernabeu stadium.

The subjects/ working phases - Students/ Teachers from other partners

As for the way of work, I have to say that it was not boring at all and we had a lot of fun without getting tired. On the other hand, I feel that we
did not have the opportunity to present all the work we had done. At the end, we had a great time with the other children. We were all friends despite our different backgrounds. As for the teachers, they were all friendly with us.

Our trip to Madrid was such a fantastic experience. Personally, I expected to meet new people from a different culture and traditions. Different buildings with different architecture, different foods and generally a different place from Greece! The Spanish teachers were really helpful and willing and they had prepared a really good programme.

Spain/ Madrid and social point of view

People in Spain are so polite and helpful. They put their families as a priority, but they also care about their careers. They are happy and friendly and they laugh as much as they can like us, Greeks. They are really proud of their country, too. I gathered that from the fact that every time I asked something about Madrid or Spain, they wanted to give me as much information as they could, and they talked in a passionate way.

Also, I was surprised by the fact that my host family and generally all the Spanish people I met knew so many things about the history of their country, the famous personalities, the ancient buildings and lots of information about my country, too.

I think that the Spanish cuisine is quite different from the Greek one.

Moreover, the prices for the food and clothing were normal and they didn’t have many differences with those in my country. In addition, I was informed that there is too much unemployment in Spain. I didn’t notice that because I visited Madrid as a tourist, but when I asked my host family about this important issue, they informed me that they have many financial problems in their country.

I really enjoyed the time that I spent with my host family. They were so polite and eager to make me feel comfortable right from the first evening. They prepared some special dinners every evening and they wanted to learn things about Greece. On the last evening they took me to an Italian restaurant and they bought me a beautiful scarf. They were ready to answer every question I asked. I will never forget them and I hope to see them again one day.

Students/ Teachers from other partners - The subjects/ working phases

The students and the teachers from the other countries were really friendly and sociable so we had the chance to make new friends. Another thing is the way that each country presented their subjects, gave us the opportunity to learn many things about the animals and the sports of the other countries and cooperate with new people.

Last but not least, I hope to visit Spain again, and why not, to look for a job or do a graduate course there. Who knows?

Only on the mere thought of travelling to a foreign country, I was terrified and at the same time excited. But when I arrived in Spain, all my fears were wiped out.

Spain/ Madrid and social point of view

The local people were very polite, friendly and they had a great sense of hospitality. They were also very proud of their country and they knew almost the merest detail of their history and the famous personalities of their country.

The food had a bit strange taste as it was very different from our traditional dishes, and the prices were a bit high in contrast to our local food prices. The prices for clothes were also high. Given the fact that the school and the houses of our host families were built in an well-off neighbourhood, it was impossible for us to observe any economical problem or even unemployment.

Because of the lack of time, I did not have the chance to watch television.

Furthermore, I was very surprised by the friendly behaviour that most partners and students from other countries had.

To my mind, the way that we worked in Spain took us a lot of effort and time that could have been used more efficiently, like a visit to a sight (Palacio Real, etc.) or for free time. In addition, I was not very satisfied with the fact that almost every tour or visit we had, involved walking, as I believe that we could have used other means of transportation.

Finally, I could easily imagine myself living in Spain for 2 - 5 years because I really liked their educational and environmental system. Moreover, the Spanish language is one of my favourite foreign languages, so I think it could be a nice opportunity for me to practise it.

This year we had the opportunity to visit Madrid with our school within the frame of the Comenius project and it was such a wonderful experience. We met people from other countries and we had the chance to get to know their culture.

Spain/ Madrid and social point of view

People in Madrid were polite, friendly and helpful and I think that they have many similarities with the Greeks. Furthermore, I was really surprised by how fashionable all the woman in Madrid were.

I really enjoyed the time that I spent with my host family. They were really polite and friendly and they did their best to make me feel comfortable. The truth is that we didn¡¦t spend much time together but every evening, even though we all were kind of tired, we had dinner and then we had some nice conversations about our countries and what we do/ our daily routines. Personally, I was surprised by the fact that my host family knew so many things about Greece and our culture and I was also surprised by the fact that the first question that someone would ask me was about the economic crisis in our country.

The subjects/ working phases/ - Students/ Teachers from other partners

The students and the teachers from the other countries were friendly, too, and we had the chance to make new friends. From the subjects that each country presented, we had the chance to learn more things about the sports and the animals of the other countries. The teachers were also really helpful, they had prepared a wonderful programme and they really helped us feel more comfortable and talk without fear; I think that this was the time when we really got to know each other.

I have to say that I had a really good time in Madrid and will never forget this trip and I hope that in my future I will have the chance to visit Spain and Madrid again ! ļ
